This
year will be the 8th year that William will be a
team captain for Griffin's Friends, our local children's
cancer
group in western Mass. We have a "William's
Treasure Tree" in the works that we're planning
on giving out to the group's 80 Boston Marathon runners
and the
25 kids on treatment who are their Team Captains.
It incorporates Wm's love of rocks & minerals.
It
has a sodalite or rose quartz base with a gold wire-wrapped
tree (made by one of
our friends Mr. Carroll) and we glue blue sodalite
stone chips on the tree for leaves. Mr. Carroll is
also helping
us supply unfinished wire-wrapped trees on various
rock
bases to the children's hospital inpatient unit and
the outpatient pedi hem-onc clinic for the kids to
make themselves
... it's our way to stay connected to him ...
